In 1989, the Children of Cebu Foundation Inc. was formed to address the issue of children living in the
streets and sidewalks of our City. These "street children," as they are locally known, were abandoned,
neglected, abused and oftentimes forced into begging to survive. They had no access to education, a safe
living environment, or even food and clean water.
To address this, the Parian Drop-In Center was built and opened in 1991. Envisioned to be a temporary
home where the children would be safe and secure and where the physical, emotional, educational and
other needs would be addressed. In the past thirty years it has become a residence for over 5,000 children.
We have given these children a home.
Many of them have graduated from high school and even college, becoming professionals both here and abroad.
They now have their own families. They have not only succeeded, they have thrived.
The opportunities given to our children and their successes are possible because of our generous sponsors,
benefactors, partners as well as our committed house parents and support staff.
It has always been our goal to work ourselves out of our jobs. The day that there are no longer any
children to rescue from the streets is the day we would gladly close our doors. For now, we will continue
to help as many children as we can. We in the Foundation are determined to continue our commitment to the
children and to do this we need your help.
We will do as we have done for over 30 years, provide a life that all children deserve, particularly
the children who don't have it.
Please join us in our cause.
